Power of Consistent Voice-over

The right voice married to the right content can elicit a response that’s just as powerful as an interview driven piece. It’s another tool to consider when brainstorming for that next video or series of videos. Here’s the caveat: creating a compelling video with voice-over only works if the script, music, and visuals are a fit for the talent.

When applied correctly, it pays off. Here are four reasons why consistent voice talent is effective.

Recognition

A solid voice that matches the feel of your brand and or message can immediately resonate with viewers. They’ll begin to pair the voice with your content. If you’ve put out solid content in the past, this should be a good thing. It’s another way to strengthen the relationship. In addition, it promotes a way to stay top of mind even if the viewer is only able to hear the audio. Specifically, think TV spots.

Credibility

Often during pre-production conversations, the partner (client) will use the word credible as part of the tone they are looking to project. A strong voice-over can accomplish exactly that. If it works on one piece, look to use it for multiple videos in the same genre. Play out the benefit as long as you can. The right voice reinforces respect and legitimacy when it comes to your product or service.

Authenticity

This is related to the last point. Credibility and authenticity often feed off each other. You always want to come off as authentic. Professional talent can give your story a boost. Are you looking to inform someone about your service? A well scripted piece combined with commanding visuals and music breeds authenticity.

Emotion

By the mere sound of a voice, you can evoke an emotion. This emotion might be excitement, fascination, interest, joy, calmness, etc. People will begin to associate the voice with your brand or series of content. The Biltmore spots are a classic example. They do a great job of transporting you to another place.

You have the power to emotionally impact your audience through video. Voice-over might be the way to go. However, it’s a tactic just like motion graphics, interview driven, and animation. It has to make sense. Now go find that next voice that works for you! We found ours
